Looking to visit the largest of the Channel Islands, but don’t know where to stay?
Hopefully, I can point you in the right direction.
Only an 80-minute flight from Manchester, Jersey is a worthy option for Brits wanting a relaxing weekend away without the hassle of a long journey.
With a stunning coastline and turquoise water, this small island packs in a lot – which is why it’s important to choose your accommodation wisely.
Where should I stay in Jersey?
If you’re wanting to just put your feet up and take in scenic surroundings, you’re best staying in the port of Saint Aubin.
Offering a beautiful sandy beach and plenty of panoramic sea views, Saint Aubin is popular with swimmers, paddle boarders, jet skiers, water skiers and sailors.
However, if you’re like me and have itchy feet, you’ll want to take a tour around Jersey.
Whilst locals are likely to recommend you hire a car to visit every inch of the island, you can travel around Jersey using public transportation.
For this, I would recommend you stay in the capital, St. Helier.
Not only will you be in the most bustling part of Jersey, but you’ll also find it easier to access the more remote areas.
You can catch a bus from Liberation station to the fascinating Jersey Zoo, the harbour village of Gorey, the rocky beach of St Catherine’s and more.
And another major bonus is that Jersey airport is only a 15-minute drive from the centre.
Where I stayed
SACO Jersey – Merlin House
- Address: Merlin House, Pier Rd, St Helier, Jersey JE2 3WR
- Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4)
- TripAdvisor rating: 4.5
- Price: From £97.20 per night based on two people sharing
A short distance (a matter of minutes) from St Helier’s waterfront, town centre and business district, these serviced apartments couldn’t be better placed.
Guests can choose from a studio, one or two-bedroom apartments, complete with a fully-fitted kitchen, lounge space and double bed
You’ll be hard pushed to find better accommodation at a reasonable price than Saco Jersey – Merlin House.
The modern apartments are comfortable, well-maintained and quiet.
But what stands out about Saco Jersey – Merlin House is the attentive nature of the staff.
No matter how many times we asked for advice, directions to the bus station or even little things like an umbrella, they could not have been more accommodating.
However, it’s worth noting that food is rather expensive in Jersey and as an apartment, you’re required to self cater – do your research before you go to make sure your wallet isn’t stung.
